37775: Frankrig: Channel Hopping Winch Challenge 2006 (11-09-2006 10:47:12)

The Channel Hopping Winch Challenge 2006

The success of the first Channel Hopping Winch Challenge in Decembre 2005 was evident. In fact, it was so successful that all the participating competitors asked for another, similar event. It is for this reason that we are pleased to announce the dates of the second Channel Hopping Winch Challenge on Decembre 9th-10th 2006. Like the first event this second Channel Hopping Winch Challenge will take place on the fantastic site ‘Les cinq Pilliers’ in Picardy, North Western France. This rugged, picturesque 300 acre wooded quarry with a phenomenal ‘drive through caves’ has to be one of the best off-road trials venues in Europe.

Again ex para Sergeant Mick Doherty will be in charge, and together with his team of marshals they will make this years event even a little tougher than last. So this is not an event for the ill-equipped or fainthearted. A well prepared, fully road legal 4x4 with at least front and rear winches (or a single front/rear demountable), roll bars, but preferably a full cage, mud terrain tyres plus the other items listed on our website (www.rfc-europe.com or www.4x4winches.com) is required.

More will not be the same as last year. This year we are preparing for a truly international field with a spread of competitors from many countries. There are only 25 team places, so if you are up for it, contact Allan Byrne as soon as possible and register for consideration (or visit the website). This year’s event also will be a pilot for the forthcoming Rainforest European Championship Challenge series for 2007. Take part and possibly you have an input into a fantastic new international off-road event series! This year we also will be camping on site, so full camping gear is needed. There will be a Hog-roast bash on the Saturday night and some Tizer to wash it down. The cost for the whole weekend is just £ 249,- per team (about € 375,-), which includes the Hog-roast.
