Hej
Fandt denne lille historie på Africa Land Rover Forum. Hvem sagde en td5 ikke kan køre i dybt vand, vil dog ikke anbefale at man prøver selv.
Hilsen Henrik
Went on a short trip to Botswana during school break. Crossing Khwai river along the cut line at Moremi was not advised for petrol vehicles or diesels without snorkelsby the locals.
After much thought and contemplation I decided to take the "plunge". Due to croc infested waters walking the crossing is ill advised so I only checked from a respectable distance.
My biggest fear was to get stuck in very deep water and the ECU box getting flooded, although I had siliconed all possible leakages on the box underneath the drivers seat.
The first 20 meters were fine but then it dips into the central channel and only momentum "floated" the vehicle accross to where the wheels could grip again. Water came up three quarters of the windsreen.
I had placed a large rubber mat in front of the grill and made sure the elecric fan was off.
The vehicle took in a lot of water - mainly through the gear levers.
Some water did enter the box where the ECU is mounted but not enough to get to the unit (about half a cup).
No damage to vehicle or engine and floor mats dried within 2 days in 38 deg heat.
On-lookers reckoned the Defender "disappeared" for a second or two !!.
