This explanation should give you sufficient information to carry out fault finding on the rear window system.
When the tail door handle is operated to open the door, a switch in the door handle signals the CCU to initiate a delay, to lower the window glass approximately 20 mm before allowing the tail door to be opened. This prevents the door from being opened with the window glass still engaged in
the seal recess. When the tail door is closed, the tail door window glass automatically lifts approximately 20 mm and engages with the seal recess.
Tail Door Open Function Operation of the tail open lever closes the contacts of the tail door open switch.
The tail door window can also be lowered using the remote handset. Pressing the handset unlock button for approximately 2.0 seconds will fully lower the tail
door window. The window can be fully raised from outside the vehicle using a barrel lock switch located in the tail door handle shroud. The barrel switch can be turned clockwise and held using the vehicle key which raises the window fully. If the key is released before the window is fully raised it will automatically lower.
Electrical explanation:
An earth path is completed from the CCU (C428-18) to the tail door open switch (C615-2) on an orange and brown wire. The earth path is completed from the switch (C615-1) to the earth header joint (C551-8) on a black wire.
When the tail door open switch is operated, the earth path provides a signal to the CCU to partially lower the tail door window and after a predetermined delay, allow the tail door to be opened. The circuit for lowering the tail door
window is the same as described for tail door window lower function, excluding the switch operation.
When the tail door is closed, an earth path is completed by a switch in the tail door lock. The earth path is interpreted by the CCU as a signal to raise the tail
door window. The circuit for raising the tail door window is the same as described for tail door window raise function, excluding the switch operation.
